Soulgood Gives Back Through 5K
Soulgood Vegan and Vegetarian Food Truck Forms Team to Help Find a Cure for Cystic Fibrosis
Soulgood is a Dallas-based vegan and vegetarian food truck and catering company with a mission to save the planet, people and animals one plate at a time. The company was created in honor of the chef's son, Tyler D. Nelson, who was born with Cystic Fibrosis, a rare, genetic, life-shortening disease that impacts thousands of children and families every year. Our founder, Chef Cynthia Nevels, believes charity starts at home and having a giving spirit, loving heart, open mind and caring about the community where you live and work creates a stronger union.
Â
Soulgood Cares is the social impact initiative designed to have a positive impact in the community where the company serves. Soulgood Cares program has hosted events to feed homeless children across Dallas-Fort Worth, serve healthy plant-based foods at no cost in underserved communities through donations from community partners and investors, participate in community health fairs and donate 5 percent of its revenue to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and other local charities.Â
This year, Soulgood is launching a new initiative to actively give back and volunteer their time to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and recruit community partners to join in.
There are three ways to get involved by making a donation to the Soulgood Cares' Gifts to Tyler program, sign up to volunteer to serve at one of our community outreach initiatives, and join our Dallas Great Strides 5K team and walk or run on May 4, 2019 in Addison to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Find links and registration forms online at www.eatsoulgood.com/giving.
Through the Soulgood Cares social impact and charitable giving program hundreds of dollars are raised each year to serve healthy foods to homeless children in Dallas and deliver healthy plant-based food options to families in low-income and underserved communities. Coming in 2019, Soulgood will hire parents of chronically-ill children to join the Soulgood food truck and catering team to earn extra income.
"As a single-parent of a chronically-ill child for over 21 years I know how difficult life can be to make ends meet when you are constantly in the hospital with your child and work is placed on hold for extended periods of time. You wouldn't have it any other way but we all can benefit from an opportunity to be self-sufficient," shares Soulgood Founder, Cynthia Nevels.
Chef Cynthia believes giving is good for the soul and this year, Soulgood, is participating in the 2019 Dallas Great Strides and are now recruiting members for the Soulgood 5K Team.

For 30 years, Great Strides – the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s largest national fundraising event – has supported the Foundation’s mission to cure cystic fibrosis and raise awareness for this rare, genetic, life-shortening disease that makes it difficult to breathe. The events hosts walks in more than 400 cities nationwide. Each year, more than 125,000 people participate.

By walking with Chef Cynthia, team members can help accelerate innovative research and drug development, as well as advance care and advocacy. Nearly every CF drug was made possible by the Foundation and because of funds raised from Great Strides, people with CF are living longer, healthier lives and pursuing their dreams.
The CF Foundation and its team members are working every day to build on this incredible momentum, and won’t stop until there is a cure for all people living with CF.
There are still many more steps to be taken. Together, we can conquer this disease.
Join Soulgood and let’s LACE UP. WALK. and CURE CYSTIC FIBROSIS.
So far, Great Strides has raised over $37,664,077.
